STEP ONE: Our first date.

The first step is to determine if I'm the perfect fit for you both! We can set up an in-person or a zoom meeting to chat. If it turns out that we were made to be, then we can move onto the booking process - which isn't as daunting as it sounds.

STEP TWO: Did we just become best friends?

Dates fill up fast - ESPECIALLY weekends, so the next step is to get your date secure and hard-stamped into my calendar. I will put together a custom proposal, plus your day-of contract and email it to you right away so you can review and tie your day to my services. After that's finished, I require a 50% non-refundable retainer to secure your date. That's it - then I'm all yours!

P.S. Keep in mind, I absolutely accept payments, so if that's something you need to set up, we can chat about that, as well.

STEP THREE: The engagements.

After that whole painstaking process, we can schedule your engagement session! I realize there's going to be inevitable awkwardness the first time you step foot in front of my lens. There will be some Ricky Bobby moments - but, I got you. This is a prelude the main event, and it's not as painful as you're imagining - promise.

THE WEDDING FAQs

Where are you willing to travel to?

In the state of North Dakota, I travel anywhere included in the pricing of your package. The only additional expense is a required hotel room booking for weddings 50+ miles outside of New Salem if I'm covering dances.

I’m willing to travel anywhere outside of good ol' ND, as well! Domestic or international, I'm open to a chat! Please contact me ASAP since your wedding may book several days in my calendar or the entire weekend and I need to make sure to clear my schedule for it.

For international travel, as a US citizen, I may need to apply for a visa, which could take a bit of time.

How many photos do we receive from the wedding?

Each wedding is VASTLY different in terms of time, location, client need - it's so difficult to gauge 'how many images your album will contain. On average, online wedding albums contain over 1,200 images. And, I typically overdeliver! ;)

How soon after the wedding can we see the photos?

Since I am a sole-photog, full wedding galleries *can* take up to 4-months for delivery, but that's seasonally dependent. I typically shoot 2-3,000+ images that I need to cull through, then hand-edit edit one individually. (That's literally 3,000+ times my lil pointer finger is pressing that shutter release on my camera body in the few hours we're hanging out getting you married), THEN, I duplicate the entire album and go through it a second time to turn one black & white so you have all the options. It definitely takes a beautiful minute.

BUT, I do have a little sneak peek up on social within 48-hours. Not only because I'm super-duper impatient, but also for you to utilize for your Thank You cards - as well as that absolutely necessary profile pick change.

Can we see a full gallery of photos from a wedding?

Absolutely - just let me know & I can send a couple links! This can absolutely help you understand not only my editing consistency, but also the flow of the day as a photographer - where I'll be, the things & relationships I focus on, and a bit of my own personality bouncing off my wedding parties.

Do you mind if guests take photos?

Nope! They are your friends and family! Whatever you say is a go! An unplugged wedding isn’t always necessary, but I do appreciate it when there isn’t a large iPad being thrown up during the ceremony or when Uncle Joe is over my shoulder with his CoolPix photographing everything I just set up. ;)

Do you carry insurance?

Yes, I do have insurance on my equipment. In the event something breaks no one is held liable. My insurance will cover the damages.

Also, many venues require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) as proof of insurance to be able to photograph at their venue.

Do you keep the copyrights? Do we have printing rights?

Copyrights are there for legal purposes. I do retain the copyright as I want to be able to protect myself and you from any 3rd parties using the photos without our permission.

You absolutely have full personal printing rights with all of my images. That's actually financially built in as part of my fee with anything I shoot (except sports composites).

Do you work with a 2nd photographer?

I have photographed 100% of my booked weddings by myself. However, if you would like another photographer to be there to capture more moments, let me know. I can arrange for one of my phenomenal photog friends to accompany me at an additional cost! Your images will still be culled & edited by me, so the entire album will be consistent.

Do you take formal family portraits?

Absolutely! I think family formals are one of the most important photos of a wedding.

These are the photos that will last generations so it is vital these be taken.

Do you retouch the photos?

Generally, no. Sometimes blemishes and such occur from wedding stress, so I understand and those can be fixed right up, easy peasy. I do depend on hair and make-up to do the majority of the job. All of my images get a quick Lightroom pixie-dusting edit to remain consistent with my brand, and that's it! I want your images to remain as natural and timeless as possible. Classic photography should NEVER be a fad.

Are destination photography packages the same as your regular packages?

The coverage on the “day of” is the same, however I always include rehearsal dinner coverage and a day-after session when I photograph a destination wedding.

You will pay a bit more to have me travel and because I really want to cover as much as I can while I’m with you. However, we can absolutely chat and customize!

Does your workflow change for destination weddings?

Not at all different than local weddings, actually. The only difference is that I try to scout the location a day or two prior to the wedding day.

If you have a rehearsal dinner or a site visit the day before, please let me know. I will do everything to be there so I can check out the area for the best portraits.

After the wedding, I will be uploading the images immediately to an external hard drive and my laptop.

Can we meet up? Or, schedule a video call?

1000%. I think it is very important to get to know each other and see if our personalities are a fit before signing the contract. Any & ALL questions are encouraged!

Wedding planning can be a lot like Narnia. I do have assets & connections close to me, so if you need help with ANYTHING, let me know how I can help!

What is your preferred method of payment? Is there a reservation fee or deposit required?

I accept cash / check / Venmo!

As a photographer, I don't book with deposits - instead, I book with a retainer. You're retaining my services for your set amount of hours.

I do require a 50% retainer due the day of booking, and the remaining 50% is due at our final meeting before the big I DO. I set final meetings roughly 30-days prior to the wedding so it's one less thing you need to worry about during that last spiral of insanity!

The retainer is non-refundable. On my end, weddings are booked sometimes over a year in advance, so I've blocked off that date to other projects or weddings I could take on. I do understand that life never ceases to surprise us, and sometimes they're not the good kind of surprises. If something dire happens, you'll know how to find me.

Do you offer payment plans?

Listen - I understand all too well kids just starting out in love and wanting your love to be B-E-A-UTIFULLY documented. On the other end of the spectrum, I also understand limping through an economic downward spiral with no end in sight. I ABSOLUTELY offer payment plans. I'm not a monster.

Just let me know what you need - I don't need details - I'm here to help, never judge.

Is it easier to hire a wedding photographer who is already located at my destination venue?

There are pros and cons to that approach. The main “pro” is that the photographer may be more familiar with the location (that doesn’t guarantee that you will end up great results!). However, the two cons may outweigh that pro – namely how we’ll interact before and after the wedding. Provided that we’re both located in the same area, I’m available to meet in person to help plan for the wedding day photography. Additionally, we’ll be able to work together after the wedding on albums, canvas prints, and any other products that you might enjoy having. Lastly, you’re protected by a binding contract and a system to back it up.

Is your pricing different for a destination wedding?

My fees for destination wedding photography are the same as my local wedding photography rates. The only additional costs that you will want to consider will be:

  • Airfare for at least me and my second photographer. (it is suggested that you purchase flight insurance).
  • Baggage fees.
  • Hotel accommodations (typically 2 nights but will vary depending on the number of days you would like me to stay).
  • Rental car (optional if you have another way to get me from point A to B).
  • Travel fee: $500.00 per team member traveling.
  • Per Diem: $30/day per team member for meals on travel days.

Do I need to book the flights for destination / elopement weddings?

You have the choice of booking the flights and paying for them directly (to get miles or use points) or you may reimburse me for the cost.
